Can you help raise $100,000 for Bravehearts?

http://www.everydayhero.com.au/health_queen_charity_arm

Watch the above link, as Sam Beau Patrick aims to raise $100,000 for Bravehearts through the sales of her new book “Beauty and the Beast Within”.

That actually equates to 40,000 book sales, so please start spreading the word!

sleeping in….arhh

Bridgets  there is something empowering in life about letting yourself sleep in….

Once you establish in your head that lying horizontal for an extra few hours is as important as cleaning, markets, exercise, ironing, cooking and that no one really cares any way, then the rest is easy….

“body and brain are we tired today?” YES - “ok, roll over and drift back to sleep”

See really easy.

day-nitey,

Bridget

Money problems, eating disorders, no sex!

Dear Bridgets

sometimes life closes in.... just like winter. Summer has gone...washed away you could say (it has rained non-stop for 6 weeks) and now finding myself firmly implanted in Autumn.

Do the season s affect us? My oathe they do!

For example, in summer, there is an abundance of space on the credit cards, one has to fast to fit into bikinis , plus there is no way known anyway is going to see my huge rear unless, a mandatory fast has been complete, and romance is a plenty (ok, stretching reality , it's called poetic license).

And now, a season on, one is more tired, fatter, has zip money and can't see any nice boys around any where....sigh....

Hold tight for winter, then get excited for spring, and then giddy up, it will be summer again!

Hope your autumn is FUN, Bridget x

Tighten up Bridget

Well the time has come to some serious budgetting. I haven't really taken a note of where I have been spending things for some time and I think some areas might have blown out. OK, I gather many people have probably done this about 12 months ago, but I am a bit slow.

I am going to start tracking where I am whittling a few $10 things here and there, to try to bring it all back into aline with my current earnings. Continual debt is not enjoyable and I am going to change that in the next 6 months!

OK, scrap book, receipts, off I go...

Can I recommend Sexual (spelt backwards) on the Gold Coast

Bridgets hi ho

I have been wanting to eat (and drink) at Lauxes on the Gold Coast for a few years now. The truth is an old mate frequents there and I don't want to cramp his style with his new girl friend - so I don't go there! Crazy ? Or just good girl etiquette?

So this morning when Maree and Karan from Westpac invited me to a business breakfast to help build other business relations - I jumped at the opportunity.

Set on a pretty little park in the middle of Broadbeach (on what was for years a vacant block) - with parking underneath, an awesome menu and top service.

I will definitely going back!

Thank-you Bridget

Food glorious food

Why does "bad" food taste the best?

I am sorry but an apple just doesn't taste the same as a sticky date pudding! You know it and I know it!

Bridget's 10 BEST Hang-over remedies

Bridgets after years of experimenting, trialling, and going through sheer pain (at time indulgence) this is what I have come to conclude as the best hang-over remedies of all time.... (NB no responsibility or liability will be accepted if they don't work for you)!!

1. Don't over drink. (boring)

2. Drink one glass of water for every glass of alcohol consumed (unless it is a long island iced tea - in which case, drink a jug of water for every drink consumed).

3. Swallow a mouthful of St Mary's thistle before and after drinking

4. Don't mix beverages. (Go hard, or go home)!

5. Don't drink cheaply (my worst hang overs have been with cheap wine, cheap champagne or no-name-beer)

6. Eat before, during and after drinking

7. Don't drink straight after sport events unless you are replacing electrolytes at the same time

8. FREE grog is twice as toxic as purchased grog

9. Don't trust a stranger with your drink while on the dance floor or going to the loo.

10. Take cash with you and never withdraw extra cash when you are out and drunk!

Remember Bridgets , never drink-drive (unless you are too drunk to walk - no I didn't write that), and LIVE IT UP!!!

Smiling burns up 1 calorie

Bridgets

how is my maths?

Smiling burns up 1 calorie (based on the average smile)

So if I smile 100 times over the day, I can burn up 100 calories.

That is nearly a TIM TAM!

Here's to smiling,

The first day of Autumn 2010

Bridgets, this year I am not going to breathe deep and let out a releaved sigh, blowing away, all my fitness and healthy eating regimes!

UH - nope - I am going to keep my lovely little mantras, keep eating healthy and continue the battle against the latte!

Next Spring - I am going to look hot! Well, hotter, OK, warmer, OK, considering it will be post winter - can we all agree on warmer.

Am I intolerant because of toooo much testosterone?

Bridgets,

I don't actually watch a lot of main stream telly. (If you know me, all I seem to do is schedule my week-end around sporting events ) ...sigh...

So when I do flick over the mainstream television stations - all I seem to witness are Simon Cowley inspired "so you can dance?" "so you think you can sing", "so you dare think, just walk that cat walk ,,,grrprrrr".

And even though these shows seems to be about absolutely nothing - ie a plain old modelling interview - well they will draw it out for 10 weeks, with half of America turning out for the grand finale..... Seriously.... that is weird. If you told me back in high school , that this would television in 2010, I'd be thinking the Jetsons - foreign.

Ironically the Jetson seem to metamorphosing from all sides - taking pills instead of real food, the space dog (Kamagochie, Japan and its fake dog fettish) and women who all look like clones due to plastic.

The even weirder thing on all of these "reality shows" - sorry a little non-reality for my meagre life - is when they pan to the participants - they are always crying, either being striped to pieces (and I really feel sooo sorry for them and have to change the station) or they are crying because it is the "best week of their life, etc" (and I feel it is too melodramatic and change). Hence my impression of these shows is funky, surreal gen why why (y-y) relating through song, voice and movement (and these shows really arent for me).

Wow, pretty profound for Bridget!

Pros and Cons of the Lemon Detox Diet

Well after finishing 3 weeks on the Lemon Detox diet- doing it the Spanish way - which means drinking the lemon/maple syrup drink over the day but still having salad/fish/chicken I have managed to lose and keep off 3kg!

I have had a break for 10 days - lots of good healthy food , and some other celebrations thrown in, and fat has stayed off....

I can recommend the Lemon Detox diet as a great kick start. It gives you results early on, which can be important when you need a psychological boost as much as anything.

Enjoy, love Bridget x

New Years Desolution!

Twas the month after Christmas,
And all through the house,
Nothing would fit me,
Not even a blouse.

The cookies I'd nibbled,
The chocolate I'd taste
At the holiday parties
Had gone to my waist.

When I got on the scales
There arose such a number!
When I walked to the store
(less a walk than a lumber),

I'd remember the marvellous meals I'd prepared;
The gravies and sauces and beef nicely rared,
The wine and the rum balls, the bread and the cheese
And the way I'd never said, "No thank you, please."

As I dressed myself in my husband's old shirt
And prepared once again to do battle with dirt...
I said to myself, as I only can,
"You can't spend a Summer, disguised as a man!"

So, away with the last of the sour cream dip.
Get rid of the fruit cake, every cracker and chip.
Every last bit of food that I like must be banished
Till all the additional ounces have vanished.

I won't have a cookie, not even a lick.
I'll want only to chew on a long celery stick.
I won't have hot biscuits, or corn bread, or pie.
I'll munch on a carrot and quietly cry.

I'm hungry, I'm lonesome, and life is a bore...
But isn't that what January is for?
Unable to giggle, no longer a riot.
Happy New Year to all, and to all a good diet.

Lemon Detox Diet 2010

Loving only having lemons, palm and maple syrup and cayenne pepper.
Unsure why exactly I feel so good with it - but I do. I am into day 4 now and have lost 2.3 kg and have lots of energy and am only doing the relaxed version (AKA the Spanish Version).
My aim is to stick with it for another week....

Sultana cake competition

Well, I would like to think I am able to bake a few things - nachos, cheese, sauce,; stir fry ; chicken soup etc... But the rules/ingredients/presentation are all very "friendly" and informal.
I think the big difference in being a good cook and being a "chef" is the attention to detail.
I am watching a show about a competition in country Australia about the best Sultana Cake!
I am stressed listening to Merle recite all the rules - the colour to expect for top points, cooking tips (apparently cakes grow white spots after a few days - the remedy to decrease something....).

OMG.

I do believe she is taking the strips off someone in the front row.

This show is quite amazing. Coral won - but she confesses she is a little nervous going on the bus to Narrabri and also that she has to cook another winner cake within a few months!
"yes, the tricky (?) rainbow cake".
Pricless. Thank-you ladies for making make us who we are.
